Mama na Mtoto Engagement with Community through Traditional Ceremonies
circled are the twin sisters
Mama na Mtoto uses different platforms to educate the community in order to reduce maternal and new born mortality. One of the platforms is attending traditional ceremonies which was done at Mwandu whereby twin sisters were being cleansed so that when they get married there wont be any misfortune between them and their future husbands. Mama na Mtoto took the opportunity to spread word to the congregation on best practices in reducing maternal and new born mortality. This was also an opportunity for the project to familiarize with the cultures and traditions of that community as well as build strong relationships.
